REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Failing in the emission test does not hamper the government to support Kiat Esemka car -dubbed as "national car". The Minister of Transportation, EE Mangindaan, is still optimistic that failure is not a dead end for the student-made car.
“The government still gives the full support for Esemka. It should be save and environmental friendly,” he said.
Refer to some poor performance of Esemka, Mangindaan said that the car could be repaired to increase its performance to pass the test.
The test shows that Esemka producing too much smoke and its emission exceeds the allowable limit in Indonesia. In other words, the car should have been more environmentally friendly. Meanwhile, Indonesian Agency for Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT) will study the technological side of the Esemka to help imporving its performance in the future.
