REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Indonesian House of Representatives asks US Government to take firm measure towards its citizens committed religious defamation. The pressure is following the anti-Islam movie, `Innocence of Muslims`, produced by an American named Nakoula Basseley Nakoula and posted on Youtube.
"US Government must anticipate any disturbance toward other religions in the name of freedom of expression and art," the Deputy Speaker of Religion Commission (VIII) in House, Jazuli Juwani, said after meeting US Ambassador to Indonesia, Scot Marciel, on Monday.
The one-hour meeting discussed the controversy of 'Innocence of Muslims'. The Commission VIII said US firm step could reflect US' pro-peace stance. Such firm stance is also believed can minimize racial discrimination in the US. Meanwhile, Marciel kept tight lipped when asked by reporters.
