REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Garuda Indonesia, Indonesia's state airlines, has begun offering new, inexpensive travel destinations.
The new routes were announced during the Garuda Indonesia Travel fair (GATF) held at the Jakarta Convention Center from September 12-14.
"Through this travel fair, we are introducing new destinations from Garuda Indonesia, many having a must-see natural beauty," Managing Director of Garuda Indonesia, Emirsyah Satar, said on Friday.
Locations he mentioned include Labuan Bajo in East Nusa Tenggara Province, Bau Bau and Kolaka in Southeast Sulawesi Province, and other sites in Papua. All of the destinations are being offered at special prices, he added.
Tickets and tour packages to foreign countries include fares to Singapore and Kuala Lumpur for only $36, and even to Tokyo at only $306.
Meanwhile, five-day package tours to Korea will sell for $495, $398 for seven days in Turkey, and only $1.688 for ten days in the United States.
The GATF opening ceremony was headed up by Garuda's Emirsyah. Also in attendance were Indonesian Vice Minister of Transportation Bambang Susantono and Vice Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sapta Nirwandar.
The 2nd GATF this year saw participation by Garuda Indonesia group and business partners, consisting of 44 travel agents, 14 hotel representatives, four national tourism organizations, and 14 corporations.
In addition, Garuda Indonesia also invited local governments from Raja Ampat, Banyuwangi, Toraja and Central Tapanuli to introduce their tourism opportunities to the public.
