REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Governor of Jakarta Joko Widodo on Sunday announced that emergency status in Jakarta had been cancelled. Government declared an emergency status for Jakarta from January 17-27 following the severe flood threat.

"Once floods receded, we cancel the emergency status immediately," Joko Widodo, or better known as Jokowi, said on Sunday. The status is issued to increase the effectiveness and provide better coordination in handling the floods.

After the status is being cancelled, Jokowi will still cooperate with the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) to monitor the weather condition.

"According to BMKG, intensity of rainfall is still high until February. We are still cooperating with BMKG if the weather is changed suddenly," Jokowi said.
