Oil import costs 1.8 trillion IDR per day, next year

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources predicts that demand for crude oil and fuel will increase until 2019. Government spent 120 million USD to import oil in 2013. 

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Jero Wacik said that crude oil and fuel import could reach 1.8 trillion per day until 2019. 

"Without policy about fuel consumption, the figure will actually take place," Wacik said on Friday.

Wacik said that Indonesia made good progress in economic sector during the last nine years. As a result, poverty number declined from 37.3 million people to 28.07 million people. Unemployment also decreased from 10.5 percent to 5.9 percent. Vehicle ownership also continues to increase.

Economic improvement quality is seen from increasing number of Indonesian citizens who come into category of middle class. It has implication for increasing of fuel consumption.
