REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- PT Newmont Nusa Tenggara (NNT), a subsidiary of US-based Newmont Corporation did not respond the request of Indonesian government to revoke the arbitration. Government has asked company to return to negotiation scheme that has not been completed until now.

"I wait until the cabinet meeting," Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Chairul Tanjung said recently as reported by Meiliani Fauziah.

Tanjung said that he still waited for the goodwill of Newmont. The Cabinet meeting will decide an official statement that will be taken by government when Newmont insisted to go to arbitration court.

Ministerial coordination meeting plans to give one more chance to bring back Newmont to negotiation process. If the company rejected it, government ensured that Newmont will suffer loss.

Newmont has filled an international arbitration against Indonesian government's ore-export ban policy. The company asked interim solution to allow NNT to resume exporting copper concentrate so that its Batu Hijau mine could resume operations.
