REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - No Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) leader has been included on the list of President Joko Widodo's ministerial candidates, according to the spokesman for the anti-graft body said.

"Thank God. Not a single KPK leader is on the list of probable candidates. This will keep us independent (to carry out duties)," KPK Spokesman Johan Budi stated on Tuesday.

On Sunday, Oct 19, Joko Widodo, better known as Jokowi, met with four KPK leaders at the KPK building. The KPK leaders handed over the reports on its examinations of the names of ministerial candidates for Jokowi's government.

The names were submitted to the KPK by Jokowi's Transition Team on Friday (Oct 17) to be verified. There was speculation that Abraham Samad, the KPK chairman, was tipped as a probable for attorney general post.

"This is the information (the list of candidates) I have received from Jokowi. I do not know if Pak (Mr) Jokowi still has other names he has not submitted to the KPK," Johan Budi added.

He noted that Jokowi had received initial information on the track records of his ministerial candidates. "There are 43 names from private sector. I do not mention any political party. They come from private entities," the KPK spokesman explained.

On Monday, Oct 20, KPK Deputy Chairman Zulkarnain pointed out that the KPK has used yellow and red colors on the results of its examinations. According to Zulkarnain, red means the candidates concerned is a potential corruption suspect or is involved in a legal case under the KPK.

"We have not written 'passed' or 'failed' on the examinations. We have only provided inputs based on the (Jokowi's) request. We have given red color to potential high-risk candidates and yellow color to candidates with moderate potential for involvement in corruption cases," he added.

Earlier, Jokowi said he would involve the KPK and the Financial Transaction and Analysis Report Center  (PPATK) for selecting his ministerial candidates.
