REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Secretary General of Ministry of Defense, Lieutenant General Ediwan Prabowo, stated that the ministry prioritized quality over cheap price on purchasing weaponry. The ministry's decision on purchasing Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) Avibras Brazil is based on the consideration. "We prioritize specification over cheap price," Prabowo said recently.

He ensured that Indonesian Armed Forces used tested weaponry. They tested the weapons before purchasing them to assure that the weapons met technical requirements.

Major Turkish weapons manufacturer, Roketsan, was interested in supplying weaponry to Indonesian Armed Forces. However, Prabowo said that the weapons did not meet the requirements.

The Head of Communication Center at the Ministry of Defense, Colonel Djundan, said that Roketsan's MLRS had not been tested and used in other countries. "What they have offered to us is still in research and development approval," he said.
