REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Substitution of Indonesia military (TNI) commander with rotating ways of among division considered appropriate. It believed that the rotation providing equal opportunities for all the soldiers in the unit.
Members of Commission I, House of Representatives (DPR), Tubagus Hasanuddin said, the alternately tradition was not to correct the previous government’s policy. "It (the rotating turnover) is spirit of reformation," said the politician from Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) in office of Commission I, parliament complex, Jakarta, on Monday, June 8.
Tubagus explained the change of military leadership by rotating way in order to avoid the dominance of one dimension in all military units. He said, since the era of President Abdurrahman Wahid and President Megawati Soekarnoputri, the rotating ways were already done.
That tradition, he said, also continued in President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY)’s era. "Mr. SBY was correct (to rotate it)," said Tubagus. Although, it was not explained in the military Law, but according to him it has a good meaning.
Before the reform, he said, Army (AD) dominant position was apparent in all fronts and the career peak of military heroism. By rotating way, he said, will close dominance gap, namely with assumed all forces are equivalent.
Secondly, he said, the turnover of TNI Commander with rotating way also has the intention to cultivate unity among dimensions. Finally, the tradition will give hope to the entire senior soldiers in their careers.
"All of soldiers were hoping to become TNI Commander as their career peak. Don’t just certain forces (who became TNI Commander)," he continued.
General Moeldoko will retire on August, 1. However, his successor was already being debated. Presidential palace once said that Moeldoko’s successor not have to follow the pattern of the previous government.

According to rotation, Moeldoko’s replacement was Chief of Air Force Staff (KSAU) Marshal Agus Supriyatna or Chief of Navy Staff (KSAL) Admiral Ade Supandi. Moeldoko was the commander from the Army (AD).
