REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Railway project in Kalimantan was scheduled to be completed in five years, ie in 2020. The railway project and techno park required an investment of Rp 72 trillion.
Governor of East Kalimantan, Awang Faroek, said railway that would be built in Kalimantan was be used for rail passenger and freight transport.
"Railway in Kalimantan is railway for passenger and freight transport. It means, it can be used to transport coal, oil and gas, forestry and CPO (crude palm oil) and also all natural resources," said Awang, after met Vice President, in Jakarta, Monday (26/10).
Furthermore, the groundbreaking was planned to be conducted on 17th November 2015 by President Joko Widodo. The construction of railway was an investment of a Russian railway company.
"Jalur pertama dari Kutai Barat sampai ke kawasan industri Buluminung di Balikpapan, kedua dari Kutai Kartanegara sampai KEK Batua Trans Kalimantan Selatan," jelas dia.
"The first line is from Kutai Barat to Buluminung industrial estates in Balikpapan. The second line is from Kutai Kertanegara to KEK Batua Trans South Kalimantan," he explained.
Furthermore, Awang revealed that a number of obstacles already be solved, such as land acquisition and special railway operation regulations. According to him, Vice President Jusuf Kalla had stated that the regulations would be changed, so that the investment project could be truly realized.
