REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Jakarta Metropolitan Police Command plans to question the chief of the Islam Defenders' Front (FPI), Habib Rizieq Shihab, next Monday regarding a speech in which he referred to the hammer and sickle symbol, Senior Commissioner Argo Yuwono said. "Investigators were to determine the materials for such questioning but these would be linked to the hammer and sickle picture on the material put on the YouTube," Argo, who is a spokesman, stated.

He revealed that investigators would ask him about his statement in which he had claimed that the country's new bills carry a hammer and sickle (communist) logo. He will also be asked about who uploaded the picture on the YouTube.

Argo emphasized that the police would work in a professional manner, and will follow all due procedures while dealing with the case. He said he cannot confirm if the police would name him as a suspect or detain him after the questioning, and added that it would all depend upon the results of the questioning.

The Anti-Slander Young Intellectual Network (JIMAF) reported Habib Rizieq to the authorities on January 8 in connection with a video, in which he stated that the logo of Bank Indonesia in the new rupiah bills was like a hammer and sickle symbol (of the communists).

Rizieq is alleged to have violated Article 28 Paragraph 2, read in conjunction with Article 45 Paragraph 2 of Law Number 19 of 2016 and the amendment of Law Number 11 of 2008 on Electronic Transactions Information.
