REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, DENPASAR -- The number of German tourists visiting Bali during the first half of 2017 was 73,922, or 11,212 people, up by 17.88 percent, compared to the same period in the previous year of 62,710 people.

"The number of people who came via Ngurah Rai Airport directly from their countries were 73,193 people, while 729 people came via seaports with cruise ships," the Head of Bali's Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), Adi Nugroho, stated here on Monday.

He noted that the number of German tourists contributed to 2.63 percent of the total of 2.811 million foreign tourists to Bali during the first half of 2007. This figure increased by 23.76 percent, or 539,681 people, compared to the same semester of the previous year of 2.271 million people.

The foreign tourists visiting Bali mostly come from China, with 26.26 percent; Australia, with 19.09 percent; India, with 4.61 percent; Britain, with 4.03 percent; Japan, with 3.99 percent; the United States, with 3.51 percent; South Korea, with 3.10 percent; Malaysia, with 2.99 percent; and Taiwan, with 2.63 percent.

Nugroho explained that the number of foreign tourists visiting Bali can continue to increase as Bali tourism development center intensifies tourism promotion in foreign countries.

Meanwhile, the Head of Badung District's Tourism Office, I Made Badra, remarked that people from European countries are more likely to travel to Bali as they have very good quality tourism. Integrated promotion involves hotel managers, travel agents, and tour operators, he noted.

The promotion is also expected to increase the duration of visit of tourists to Bali, especially in Badung district.

This year, the local administration will promote tourism to Singapore and the UK from Oct to Nov, he revealed.
