REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Former Coordinating Maritime Affairs Minister, Rizal Ramli stated his determination to contest in presidential election 2019. He has declared himself as presidential candidate on Friday (April 20).
Witnessed by Gerindra party politician and Jakarta Deputy Governor Sandiaga Uno, Rizal made the declaration at DKI Jakarta City Hall. Jakarta Council Deputy Speaker Muhammad Taufik also witnessed the declaration.
Rizal pledged to arrest about 100 people allegedly violate the law. He believed those people have to be punished.
"On the first day, I will arrest 100 bad people and exile them to islands with malaria epidemic," said Rizal.
On the second day of his presidency, Rizal would issue a Lieu of Law (Perppu) to allocate state budget to finance every political parties in Indonesia. He considered, financial sources of political parties have triggered the politicians to corrupt.
Meanwhile, Sandiaga welcomed Rizal's declaration. He appreciated Rizal's openness towards him and Taufik as Gerindra politicians, as well as Gerindras victory team in 2019 presidential election.
"We appreciate Mr Rizal and congratulate him for his declaration," said Sandiaga.
