REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA-- Sinton Kabarek, one of National Police members who became victim of criminal armed groups (KKSB) attack in Papua, was found dead around Douw river, a tributary of the Mamberamo river in Tolikara Regency on Sunday (July 1). The body has been evacuated to Dabra.

However, the next evacuation step of Sinton's body has not been decided yet. Local police were still waiting coordination with Puncak Jaya Police. "Their team currently on flight from Mulia to Jayapura,” said Mamberamo Raya Police chief, Dominggus Rumaropen on Monday (July 2).

Sinton and eight members of Puncak Jaya Police led by Jesayas Nusi were in charge of securing ballots of regional election in Papua on last June 27 at around 16.00 WIT (Indonesia East Standard Time). They were intercepted when on the way back to Torere by KKSB.

Sinton and Jesayas then reported missing. Meanwhile, seven other members, namely Maks Anjonderi, Steven Auparay, Daniel Tambunan, Firmansa, Yusuf Toding, Mulyadi, and Petrus Imbiri, survived the attack.

Dominggus said, joint team of Search and Rescue (SAR) is currently still searching for Jesayas who have not been found yet. The search also conducted along with society.

Meanwhile, Puncak Jaya Police chief Indra Napitulu reported Sinton’s body has been found exactly about two or three kilometres from the attack location. Sinton died due to several gunshot wounds on his body.
