REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SLEMAN - New site, which is thought a temple found at Bedingin village, Sleman, Yogyakarta. A team from Institute for Cultural Heritage Preservation (BPCB) in Yogyakarta, which conducted the excavation found a pot of gold.
Discovery of the temple started from a builder who wants to build a septic tank in a house in Bedingin on October 20. BPCB then conducted an excavation after received a report from residents who saw kinds of rocks. The excavation conducted on November 11-22, 2013.
First, the team found19 blocks of stone temples. On Wednesday this week, the team found a pot of gold, also contained of silver plate. Team indicated the site was a temple. It is known from finding of temple parts, such as antefix (temple's wall component), makara (temple's stairs).
The temple site is relatively a new finding as Bedingin site is not recorded in Raffles trip, who enrolled Javanese temple. However, the team is not yet finding whole structure and foundation of a temple. So, team will continue to explore the land around the temple.
