REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MOSCOW -- International Atomic Energy Agency (BATAN)’s plan to establish an experimental power reactor at the Research Center for Science and Technology, Serpong, continue to be implemented.

The construction tender for created design will take place in 2017. In the mid of August 2015, BATAN had a visit to Germany to discuss the plan with Nukem Technology. Nukem Technology is a subsidiary of Russia's nuclear corporation ‘Rosatom’, which will implement the construction project of the experimental power reactor.

Rosatom is the Russian nuclear state-owned enterprises, that were established in 2007 and is the regulatory body of the Russian nuclear complex.

"BATAN visit was to ensure the preparation of the reactor power design as a national project that will be monitored by the public,” said Vice Chairman of BATAN, Taswanda Taryo, Wednesday (26/8).

Last April 2015, Indonesia and Russia had an agreement to make a design development of experimental power reactor in Serpong with a capacity of 10 MW. The project will be run by a consortium RENUKO from Indonesia and Russia.

Companies involved in the consortium are Rekayasa Engineering, Konsultan Kogas Driyap dan Nukem Technology. Those companies will run the projects with other companies under Rosatom experienced in designing and building nuclear reactors, namely Atomstroyexport, OJBM Afrikantov, SIA "LUNCH" and the Kurchatov Institute.
