REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Chairman of DPP PDI Perjuangan Said Abdullah said the political direction of the party emblazoned with the white muzzle bull after the Constitutional Court's adoption is in the hands of Chief General Megawati Soekarnoputri. This was submitted by Said in response to the statement of the political observer of Airlangga University, Airlangga Privat Kusman who saw that there is an opportunity for cooperation between PDI Perjuangan and Prabowo Subianto as elected president in the 2024 presidential election.
“The input will certainly be considered by the DPP of the Party, especially Megawati Soekarnoputri, because the authority on the political direction of PDI Perjuangan is determined by the chairwoman general,” Said said in a statement in Jakarta, Friday (26/4/2024).
According to him, the Fifth President of RI will also get input from party ranks and across figures. In addition, Said mentioned there are two internal and external agendas to improve the quality of electoral democracy that PDI Struggle must pursue going forward.
Regarding the internal agenda of PDI Struggle that needs to be improved is the improvement of the quality of party cadres at all levels through tiered caderization, consolidating the consolidation of ideologies, organizations, programs, resources and cadres. Furthermore, he called the external agenda even more necessary measures.
First, evaluate the total on the implementation of legislative and executive elections, in particular on the implementation of the 2024 elections as a starting point for changes over the 2029 elections so that the electoral democratic process runs more qualitatively. “The evaluation of the implementation of the 2024 elections has at least been poured into the political stance of DPP PDI Struggle dated April 22, 2024,” he said.
Second, electoral practices are transactional, making political fare prohibitively expensive. Those who pass the elections cost a lot of political expenses, as a result not all cadres of the PDI Struggle who are ideological and understand the character and disposition of the party can face this situation.
Therefore, said Said, PDI Struggle did not recede to fight elections with closed proportions accompanied by more modern reforms of political parties, putting caderisation as a political merit. Third, togetherness or gotong royong as affirmed by the Private Airlangga is a reflection of the soul of the nation.
“With gotong royong, we can get through the Covid-19 pandemic and the economic recovery is stronger. That's an important lesson for us as a nation,” said said.
Fourth, invite all elements of the nation, especially strategic stakeholders to the simultaneous conduct of local elections (local elections) next November 2024 to safeguard electoral democracy better than elections. Thus, the elections going forward are not replaced from a fight of ideas and track records into a fight of money and power.
“We must put the elections as a capital of tiered recruitment of national leadership. That's why we need the process to run on quality,” he concluded.
