REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BRISBANE -- The governments of Japan and China offered to form a working group with Indonesia to strengthen cooperation in bringing to reality President Joko Widodo's vision of creating maritime axis, Foreign Minister Retno LP Marsudi said.
"A lot of things we could do as a follow up of this . Right after the three summits , the world would more or less know what Indonesia wants to do in the next five years," Retno told reporters here on Saturday.
Jokowi already attended three summit meetings earlier this month including APEC , ASEAN and East Asia summit meetings.
Retno said one that drew much attention among the issues raised by Jokowi in the summit meetings was the maritime concept and supporting infrastructure.
Jokowi's vision of making the country a maritime axis in the world has drawn the attentions of world leaders taking part in those summit meetings .
"There are five pillars to support the concept of maritime axis, one is infrastructure pillar that would need a lot of work to do. Japan has offered to form a working group on maritime , so does China," Retno said.
She said President Jokowi also raised the same issue in his talks on Friday night with Australian Prime Minister Tony Abott upon his arrival in Brisbane.
"After this visit we would gather all the results and which ones that need follow up action,"' she said, adding, there are a number of priority to be carried out in line with the concept of the president including construction of ports.
