REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) assessed the termination of the Jakarta bay reclamation project can not be done without full considerations. Moreover, construction of reclaimed islets could not be left abandoned.

Director of Complaints, Oversight and Administrative Sanctions KLHK, Rosa Vivien Ratnawati said, termination of the project requires coordination with the central government. "The central government acts as the advisor and regional government is the supervisor," he said when contacted by Republika.co.id, Tuesday (October 10).

However, Rosa said, the authority of environmental permit of C, D and G islets has been returned to Jakarta provincial government. Construction of those three islets was temporary halted by the central government through KLHK minister decree on July 1, 2016.

KLHK ministry has given administrative sanction to the developers of C, D and G islets by stopping the construction temporarily. The construction was halted because they failed to comply environmental regulation as the basic permission to start reclamation project.  

"Following the ability of developers to provide environmental documents, the sanction then lifted," Rosa explained.

Developer of C and D islets is PT Kapuk Naga Indah (KNI). Meanwhile, G islet is being developed by PT Muara Wisesa Samudera.
