REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, TANJUNG -- Tabalong district has planned to build 170 solar power plants in three remote villages to provide electricity.
Tabalong's mining office's electricity management chief Bambang Irawinadi said here on Tuesday that 170 solar power plant units would be erected in three villages: Dambung Raya, Salikung, and Kalingai.
For Dambung Raya village, the solar power plant will be built in a remote area inhabited by some 70 households of the indigenous community.
Bambang added that the installed solar power plants will use an individual home lighting system, known as the Solar Home System, in line with the expansion of the settlements in that village.
Meanwhile, the Tabalong Mining Department Electricity chief Rizky Maulana mentioned that the centralized 15 kWp (kilowatt peak) solar power plants were already built in two separate locations: Panaan and Dambung Raya.
"The centralized power plants, such as in Panaan and Dambung Raya villages, were built under the assistance of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, given that there are hundreds of households in those villages that have not yet been provided with electricity," said Rizki.
According to a 2010 survey, there were 1,084 households in Tabalong without electricity. In 2012, the mining department built 150 solar power plant units and, in 2013, another 172 units from the district's budget.
