Two Bali Nine inmates may be executed in Nusa Kambangan

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, DENPASAR -- Two Australian drug smugglers involved in Bali Nine, Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran, may be executed in Nusa Kambangan. The inmates will be shot by firing squad after President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo rejects requests for pardons for any drug prisoners.

"We don't know where the execution take place, but it will not be in Bali," the Head of Regional Office of Ministry of Law and Human Rights, I Gusti Kompiang Adnyana, said on Monday, January 26.

He explained that the Regional Office was only in duty to prepare the psychological condition of the inmates. Everything else is the authority of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights.

However, he said, seeing the previous executions of death penalty, the inmates were executed in Nusa Kambangan. "They could be executed in Nusa Kambangan," he said.

Meanwhile, the Australian families of Chan arrived in Bali on Sunday, January 25. Michel Chan, brother of Andrew Chan, visited Kerobokan Prison at 09:00 WITA. He refused to comment to reporters.
