Minister Marwan prioritize development of village infrastructure

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Infrastructure limitations in some areas was still the issue of which hamper the economic development. One of which was related to the power supply in some areas with no electricity.

Village, Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration Minister, Marwan Jafar said, the fulfillment of infrastructure into the main precondition that must be done in order to create quality development.

"The definition of quality construction is build for human and society, which inclusive and broad-based, and should not widen the gap between classes and between regions," said Minister Marwan, told reporters in Jakarta, on Thursday, June 11.

Marwan added that development activities should not ruin environment, lowers the carrying capacity of the environment and the balance of the ecosystem in order to generate growth and sustainable prosperity.

"Development should consider the environment and the ecosystem around it, so it does not harm the surrounding community," he said.

Infrastructure development, said Marwan, is required to support the agenda of the central government's priority, namely to support the agenda of food sovereignty, energy sovereignty, maritime, tourism, and industry.

To fulfill the program, based on a joint letter of Head of Bapppenas and Minister of Finance about Indicative Budget Ceiling and the Draft Preliminary of Government Work Plan (RKP) 2016, Village, Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration Ministry got a budget allocation of Rp 8 trillion.
