REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, KOTABARU -- Floods hit three villages in West Pamukan Sub-district, Kotabaru District, South Kalimantan, killing three and affecting 254 families comprising 929 people.
The affected villages were Batuah, Mangka and Sengayam, Ahmad Muslim of the local social, transmigration and manpower affairs office, said here, Wednesday.
The casualties were Jali (21) of Sengayam, Uti (25) of Batuah and a 67-year-old grandma also from Batuah, he remarked.
The flooding moderately damaged 232 homes and devastated 22 others.
Mangka village is the worst affected by the inundation, as 15 homes were completed submerged by floodwaters.
The West Pamukan authorities have sent relief aid and open a public kitchen to help flood victims.
