REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Shariah expert, Professor Didin Hafidhudin said program of short-term of Pesantren (Islamic boarding school) is not only to teach aspects of knowledge but also aspects of consciousness and practice the teaching of tolerance.

"Short-term pesantren program is teach to respect difference, teaches expansion of the meaning of holy war (jihad), because jihad is not only war. Jihad could do with jihad of economic or political," he said on Sunday (12/6).

Because short-term pesantren program can not cover all of teaching, it needs the curriculum that describe of Islamic teaching to counteracting radicalism such as anti radicalism study. Educators must be able to teach the true teachings of Islam. Not conducting anti-violence by terror acts but provide solutions. As in the history of the prophets, when they were conducted war for self-defense, not attacking.

He added, radicalism occurs because tyranny is allowed, as well as inequality and poverty is increasing. So, the solution to remove radicalism is by eliminating injustice, inequality, and poverty.
