REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG -- West Java (Jabar) Environmental Management Agency (BPLHD), has proposed the establishment of special task force against destroyer of the environment called Detachment 99.
West Java BPLHD head Anang Sudarna said Densus 99 will be formed to target the destroyers of the environment. "The main duty of Detachment 99 is hunting the perpetrators of pollution and environmental damage, among other incendiary forest and land, dumper of the unprocessed industrial waste, illegal logging and others," Anang told Republika.co.id, Tuesday (18/10).
Anang said he proposed Detachment 99 that comprise of representatives from the police, prosecutors, military, also the West Java provincial government. This team will monitor environmental terrorists who caused damage to the nature, such as mountains, rivers, and land.
Although the detachment was still an idea, Anang said the detachment 99 could be part of the one stop service Manunggal Administration System (Samsat) of environment that has been established. This detachment could also be an agency.
He considered Samsat is formulated to solve problems in the watershed (DAS) Cimanuk, Citarum Bestari, and rescue team of North Bandung Region (KBU). This team has not really focus on firm law enforcement. "Based on our evaluation, Samsat is less effective. At least inquiries and investigations will be under one command, may be under the command of Chief of Police," he said.
