REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Chairman of Alumni 212 presidium, Slamet Maarif confessed his disappointment that Lieu of Law (Perppu) No. 2/2017 on Mass Organizations (Ormas) has passed into law.
He said their team would continue to fight, one of the ways is through the Constitutional Court (MK).
"We are very disappointed and concerned about the House of Representative (DPR)'s decision to approve Perppu No. 2/2017 and we will continue to fight against that," said Slamet on Tuesday (October 24).
He said the most important resistance was through legal channels. Alumni 212 would fight back again through MK and make the law on Mass Organizations to be cancelled.
"On this Thursday there will be a trial at MK and we will be there to guard it and coordinate with all friends who are fighting too," he added.
Slamet admitted he has told all Muslims, especially Alumni 212 to join the struggle together. He also said that the parties who supported Perppu No. 2/2017 must be given a 'bitter lesson' which will be very valuable in the future.
"We will not support and choose all the parties which support that Perppu, either in regional election (Pilkada) or 2019 presidential election," Slamet said.
