REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PADANG -- - West Sumatra will hold a total of 58 tourism events to attract visitors to the province this year. The 58 tourism events were included in the West Sumatra Calendar of Events called "Taste of Padang" and launched by Governor of West Sumatra Province Irwan Prayitno here, Wednesday evening.
Tourism Minister Arif Yahya was present at the launch ceremony. "This Calendar of Events is expected to help attract tourists to visit West Sumatra," Governor Prayitno remarked.
Of the 58 events, three have been included in the Tourism Ministry's National Tourism Calendar of Events 2018.
The three events are Tour de Singkarak, Minangkabau Cultural Festival, and Sawahlunto International Music Festival.
West Sumatra's tourism industry holds huge potential, as the province is blessed with beautiful natural scenery and unique art, culture, and traditions.
Besides this, its culinary delicacies are also rich and delectable. Rendang, a meat dish from West Sumatra was again named the Best Food in CNN's World's 50 Best Foods in 2017, after its success in 2012.
