REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, KEDIRI — Regent of Kediri Hanindhito Himawan Pramana expressed his sorrow for the death of Santri with initials BBM (14 years). Santri, from Banyuwangi, East Java, was allegedly molested by his seniors at Pondok Pesantren Tartilul Quran (PPTQ) Al Hanifiyyah, Mojo District, Kediri Regency, East Java.
“I offer my condolences for the incident. May the victims be welcomed to the side of Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala and the families of the abandoned victims are given patience,” said the Regent, Wednesday (28/2/2024).
The Regent regrets the events that took place in the surroundings of the boarding house (ponpes). Because, he said, ponpes are one of the containers for shaping the morals and character of generations of the nation.
Anticipating similar events, the Regent said, Kediri Regency Government (Pemkab) will cooperate with Rabithah Ma'ahid Islamiyah (RMI), which is one of the autonomous governing bodies of the Great Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) with a boarding school base.
“In the future, in order to prevent similar things from happening again, the Kediri Regency Government will work with Rabithah Ma'ahid Islamiyah to socialize antiviolence up to the legislation against schools in the area of boarding houses,” the Regent said.
Regarding the handling of the case of the deceased santri, the Regent admitted that he had communicated with the ranks of the Kediri Kota Police Station. In connection with that case, police have identified four suspects, who are the senior victims in Ponpes.
The suspects are MN (18), from Sidoarjo; MA (18), from Nganjuk Regency; AF (16), from Denpasar, Bali; and AK (17), from Surabaya. “We will continue to escort justice to these events,” Regent said.
