REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA --As a form of Nahdlatul Ulama's commitment to help the Palestinian people, LAZIS Nahdlatul Ulama for the umpteenth time sends humanitarian aid to Palestine. This time, in cooperation with the zakat institution in Egypt, namely Bayt Zakat wa as-Shadaqat (BZS), LAZISNU PBNU sent humanitarian aid to residents of Gaza, Palestine.
Chairman of LAZIS Nahdlatul Ulama in Egypt, Fawaid Zuhri said that the distribution of aid to Gaza was carried out with Bayt Zakat wa as-Shadaqat, a zakat institution under the auspices of Grand Sheikh Al-Azhar, Sheikh Ahmad Al-Thayyib.
“We currently on the ground distributing aid to our brothers in Gaza, together with Bayt Zakat wa as-Shadaqat, one of the zakat organizations that exists under the auspices of Grand Sheikh al-Imam Ahmad Thayyib,” Zuhri said in a statement from Egypt on Tuesday (26/12/2023).
LAZIS Nahdlatul Ulama has channeled IDR 5 billion in aid through BZS Egypt, and in the first phase of aid delivered to Gaza was 3 container trucks.
“NU Care-LAZISNU has currently distributed 5 billion rupiah (aid) in the first phase, and this is the help of three truckloads of aid containers from NU Care LAZISNU to friends in Gaza. This is part of the help, we will add more later,” he said.
He said three truckloads of humanitarian aid containers delivered by LAZISNU in cooperation with BZS and the Egyptian Red Crescent (Egyptian Red Crescent) contained winter clothes, blankets, food, and tableware.
“This is aid to the Palestinians, which is in the form of winter clothes and blankets. Because it's winter, and for sure in Gaza it will be very cold there. There is also the help of cutlery in the form of rice, there is also food, and cutlery. Yes we monitor directly the help that will be delivered. God willing it will be sent on time and this (aid) is a blessing for all,” he explained.
He also expressed his gratitude to Indonesians and the Nahdliyin people who have entrusted LAZIS to distribute humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza, Palestine.
“Thank you to all friends of Indonesians and Nahdlatul Ulama, nahdliyin in particular who have entrusted LAZIS Nahdlatul Ulama to distribute aid to brothers in Gaza,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, Finance Director of Bayt Zakat wa as-Shadaqat, Abdurrahman confirmed that the aid was delivered to Gaza on Tuesday (26/12/2023) evening local time.
“We are grateful and express our many thanks to Nahdlatul Ulama for the humanitarian assistance to Palestine. And we are pushing for all aid to be delivered to Palestinian Gaza, with God's permission tonight (26/12/2023). Thank you very much to all of you,” he said.
