REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Vice President Boediono commemorate the National Children Day at Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) Jakarta on Wednesday. The event was also attended by former president BJ Habibie, First Lady Ani Yudhoyono, Herawati Boediono, Siti Hardiyanti Rukmana and Guruh Soekarno Putra.
In his speech, Minister of Women Empowerment and Child Protection, Linda Amalia Sari said that government continued to seek protection and development of children's potential. Next, the fulfillment of civil rights of children, 71 percent of children have birth certificates in 2013 and government has also encourage the juvenile justice. All police offices must have child protection service centers.
"Government also encouraged child friendly city development in 186 districts and cities in Indonesia," Sari said on Wednesday.
Sari also explained that government and community continued to encourage efforts to protect children from sexual abuse. This event was also attended by hundreds of children from various schools.
Ministry of Women Empowerment and Child Protection in cooperation with PT Pos Indonsia also launched a series of stamps of each former First Lady Fatmawati Soekarno, Tien Soeharto, Ainun Habibie, Siti Sinta Nuriyah and Ani Yudhoyono.
