REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Intelligence analyst from Indonesia Intelligence Institute, Ridwan Habib assessed that allowing room for the foreign press to cover to Papua is a positive thing.
He said, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) takes another approach to the most eastern province in Indonesia.
According to him, the policy will provide a good credit for the government. At least, international governments will recognize openness to foreign media in the vulnerable region.
"Jokowi’s Policy in Papua has humanitarian approach. I think that's good," he said, when contacted on Sunday, May 10.
However, permitting foreign media, to move freely in Papua, has its own challenges. He continued, intelligence-related agencies under the presidency, should be ready by Jokowi’s openness this time.
