REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Deputy Chairman of Commission I of House of Representative (DPR), Hanafi Rais said President Joko Widodo being challenged himself by freeing foreign journalists to enter Papua. Therefore, all aspects in Papua could become writing materials to foreign reporter. This is to prove whether Jokowi is successful with the acceleration of development in Papua or not.

"The president is being challenged himself to prove Papua is well manage or even fail to meet the expectations of the people of Papua," said Hanafi in Republika, on Tuesday, May 12.

President Jokowi is being intensively developing infrastructure in Papua. During this time, the infrastructure development in Papua is far behind because of the constructions are more concentrated in western Indonesia.

With the development priorities in Papua, said Hanafi, Jokowi hope it will be a success story of government to be covered by the foreign media. It is to replace story and bad image of government that has been appointed by the foreign press about Papua.

"The president has hope the dreamed 'success story' could be a new side in Papua coverage by foreign media," said Hanafi.
