REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Garuda Indonesia President Director Irfan Setiaputra said that it has started transporting pilgrims of the Aceh Embarkation Hajj from Sultan Iskandar Muda International Airport to King Abdulaziz International Airport.
“As for the inaugural Hajj departure flight at the Banda Aceh Embarkation already made on Wednesday (29/5), Garuda Indonesia (has) flown 393 would-be pilgrims using a fleet of Boeing 777-300ER aircraft,” Irfan said in a statement in Jakarta on Thursday.
Irfan said that during the departure phase of Hajj prayer in 1445 H/2024 AD served through the Embarkation of Banda Aceh, Garuda Indonesia will fly 12 flying groups (kloter) with the number of potential Hajj worshippers that will be transported about 4,695 people with the last scheduled departure on June 10, 2024 at 11.05 pm.
In serving the inaugural flight of the prospective Hajj Embarkation pilgrims of Banda Aceh, Garuda Indonesia operates a flight with the number GA-2101 departing from Sultan Iskandar Muda International Airport at 17:45 WIB and scheduled to arrive at King Abdulaziz International Airport at 21:40 local time (LT).
Irfan admitted that the optimization of operational readiness continues to be carried out continuously by maintaining the level of service of flight operations, especially through the aspect of the level of punctuality.
“That is also represented by the smooth operational aspects of Hajj flight transportation at the Banda Aceh Embarkation which has just started its inaugural flight,” Irfan said.
Carrying out its mandate as a national flag carrier, Irfan continued, Garuda Indonesia continuously continues to make efforts to improve the quality of service and flight operations through various inputs that have been submitted by relevant stakeholders.
Irfan said that this was in order to ensure the safety, safety, and comfort aspects of the passengers, who in this case are the worshippers of the Indonesian Hajj candidates, can be implemented well. Including intensive coordination with all stakeholders so that the mobilization of worshippers can take place smoothly and optimally.
Irfan said that until Wednesday (29/5) Garuda Indonesia had flown about 193 drones with a total number of 68,952 worshippers heading to the Holy Land.
He understands the importance of the momentum of Hajj worship for Indonesians, where safe and comfortable flight services are one part of the Hajj journey.
“Therefore, we make every effort to maintain and improve our preparedness at all touchpoints of passengers so that the congregation can focus on performing worship,” Irfan added.
Meanwhile, the Head of Administrative Section of the Office of the Airport Authority (OBU) Region II Aryani Satyamurni said that the first kloter flight served by Garuda Indonesia had gone smoothly.
Aryani said it was also supported by various operational preparedness as well as a series of inspections by inspectors from the Directorate General of Air Transport (Ditjen Hubud) of the Ministry of Transportation.
“Inspectors who are tasked with ensuring the condition of the aircraft by carrying out checks include aspects of the aircraft's condition, completeness of aircraft documents, and checking licenses and ensuring the health condition of pilots and crew on duty in excellent condition,” Aryani said.
Earlier Vice President Ma'ruf Amin, who was present at the inaugural release of the transportation of pilgrims of the candidate Hajj Embarkasi Aceh, revealed that Garuda Indonesia has prepared itself to continue improving the performance of its services.
“And I guess the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia has also reprimanded so that there are no more delays. Technical problems do occur frequently, but in the future they should be an evaluation material for Garuda Indonesia,” vice president said.
