REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Jakarta City Police revealed that they will deploy nearly 150 special force officers to guard the delegates of the Asian-African Conference (AAC) and Asian-African Summit to be held in Jakarta and Bandung, on April 19-24.

"The assigned officers will be prepared to provide security to the ministers of the participating countries," Jakarta City Police spokesman Senior Commissioner Martinus Sitompul said here on Monday (30/3).

He stated that the assigned security officers must chalk out a departure route for the delegates from the hotel to the summit's venue and always be on guard to evacuate the delegates during any untoward situation.

Jakarta Police Director for Vital Object Security Senior Commissioner Mulyadi Kahairani revealed that the security officers will guard the ministers of participating countries, while the presidents or heads of states will be offered protection by the presidential guard forces (Paspampres).

Currently, as many as seven members of the Jakarta Police have cleared the security officer certification from the Embassy of Australia and the Embassy of the United States, Mulyadi noted.

The Government of the Republic of Indonesia will host the Asia-Africa Summit 2015 to mark the 60th commemoration of the AAC and the 10th anniversary of the New Asian-African Strategic Partnership in Jakarta and Bandung, on April 22-24.

Some 109 Asian and African countries along with 17 observer countries and 25 international organizations will be invited.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Arrmanatha Nasir recently remarked that some 20 events have been planned to enliven the AAC commemoration.

Among the events for the AAC are the Senior Officials Meeting (SOM) on April 19 and the Ministerial Meeting (MM) on April 20.

On April 21, the organizing committee will hold the Asia-Africa Business Summit on April 22-23.

Heads of states will participate in the Historical Walk event, which will be held on April 24, the spokesman remarked.
